Today, the Stand Up To Factory Farms Coalition along with animal welfare, environmental, family farm, public health, rural advocacy, and wildlife protection organizations submitted comments on the proposed Animal Waste Management permit for Straight Ranch. Straight Ranch would house 2,500 cows in a new facility in Klamath County, OR. The letter urges the Oregon Department of Agriculture to deny the proposed permit due to threats to the environment, climate, public health, rural communities, animal welfare and independent farmers from this facility. The letter calls on the need for a state-wide moratorium on permitting mega-dairies above 2,500 cows.
